We were left intrigued last month when Chanel announced that there was to be a film at the Chanel Métiers d'Art show on December 2nd featuring Cara Delevingne and Pharrell Williams, and we've now finally been given a little more of an insight via a 40-second preview clip.
Films have been a part of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art shows since 2008, and - as was to be expected when we heard Pharrell was involved - the film, entitled Reincarnation features the artist's new song CC the World. What was perhaps less expected, was that the song is sung in duet with Cara.
Revisiting the past, we see Lagerfeld retracing the steps of Gabrielle Chanel’s visit to an Austrian resort in 1954. The legendary Coco Chanel was so transfixed during her stay by the hotel elevator operator’s jacket that it became the basis for the classic Chanel jacket.
While Geraldine Chaplin is cast as Mademoiselle Chanel, Pharrell Williams plays the lift operator as well as a reincarnated Franz Joseph I, Emperor of Austria, and Cara is the Emperor’s wife, Elisabeth.
Other notable members of the cast include Lady Amanda Harlech, models Baptiste Giabiconi and Heidi Mount and Lagerfeld's gorgeous six-year-old godson, Hudson Kroenig, who will return to the Chanel catwalk at the Métiers d'art show next week.
