Are you scrolling Instagram and Pinterest looking for wedding dress inspo?

Starting to wonder if every dress has lace sleeves and a sweetheart neckline? Not so!

New York’s Bridal Fashion Week just came to a close and with it a whole bevvy of bridal inspiration – from the ultra-princessy to the outré and everything in between.

Here’s a round-up of some of the exciting new trends to emerge in bridal design this season.

Capes

From short, hooded red riding-esque numbers to floor-sweeping regal versions, capes emerged as a major trend on this season’s bridal runways.

Not only does a cape add drama to a look, but it becomes a very practical accessory should the weather be anything less than balmy.

Shoulder Bows

Bows on bridal gowns are nothing new, but this season they had migrated from the back and waistline to stream from the shoulders. At Inbal Dror they were dainty little bursts of tulle, while at Naeem Khan they hit the floor and at Legends by Romona Keveza they trailed into a train.

Blush

For those that don't fancy a white wedding, pink and blush dresses are super cool alternative. And, this season, every designer seemed to have at least one blush, pink or nude gown in their collection - a sign, no doubt, that pink is gradually becoming the cool girls go-to.

Moto Jackets

OK, so you probably didn’t picture yourself wearing a biker jacket on your wedding day, but one look at Monique Lhuillier's all-over lace ensembles and it's evident that a cropped moto jacket can make the perfect, off-beat addition to a boho-fabulous bridal look.

Ditch the bridal car for a motorbike for added effect.

Detached Sleeves

This season the off-the-shoulder trend had a revamp, with entirely detachable sleeves - or arm warmers if you like. All the decolletage-baring gorgeousness of last year’s Bardot styles without any of the dance-move inhibiting restrictions.
