Inside Out: Enrique Iglesias

5 April 2012

Enrique Iglesias lives in Miami with his long-term girlfriend, former tennis star Anna Kournikova.

He visits London about five times a year, but admits that even pop stars feel the January pinch. 'London is an amazing city,' he says. 'It's so diverse. It's probably the best capital in the world. But it is expensive.' He is not a fan of the weather. 'It's the grey skies and the rain, it kills me.

I think I must get that SAD thing.' His favourite foods are cheeseburgers and spaghetti with meat sauce. 'I love meat. A meal isn't the same without it. I could never be a vegetarian.'

Irritatingly, Enrique doesn't even work hard to keep in shape. 'I go to the gym one day and feel pretty good for the next ten. I exercised a lot in my teenage years, so I've got a good physique and it doesn't take much upkeep.' But he likes watersports. 'I love windsurfing and waterskiing. I am pretty good at it. It's the only sport you could say I dominate. It's fun and it keeps me fit. It's great.'

Who would join you for a sofa supper?
Elvis, Gorbachev, Borat, Tom Petty and all the Victoria's Secret models.
What would you eat?
Hot dogs.
What's for pudding?
Apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
And to drink?
Grey Goose vodka on the rocks.
What is on the television?
A Martha Stewart cooking show.
Where are your five favourite places to eat around the world?
I go to Sushi King in Miami all the time. It's right near the studio I record in so it is really handy. Last time I was in London I went to an amazing restaurant called Mint Leaf, just off Haymarket. I really like Indian food, especially dishes that have a kick to them, and this is one of my favourites for that. I know it's obvious, but I have to say Nobu. You can go to any one of them in the world, be it New York, London or LA, and you know the food will be good. Everything is delicious. Pasta is one of my favourite things, so when I'm in London I always go to Cipriani. Last time I had a really tasty meat ragu. And I like Bodean's and The Big Easy in SW3. There's nothing like a burger and fries when you're on the road.
