44 stunning images that reveal life inside modern Britain

Fujifilm has created the UK’s biggest ever crowd sourced exhibition

Life in Britain has changed dramatically over the past decade. To get a snapshot of the youth today, Fujifilm asked young people to ‘submit their truths’ by uploading a photo taken from any kind of camera.

This has resulted in the UK’s largest crowd-sourced gallery, with over 11,000 images submitted.

Fujifilm has selected 44 of its favourite images and says the entries ‘capture the feelings of this misjudged generation at a time of great unrest in the UK’.

Pride events feature heavily through the submissions as the country embraces equality for good, and care for the environment was also an overwhelming theme as we face an ever-mounting climate crisis.

Gloria McCann of Fujifilm said: “We were amazed by the sheer volume of images we received that were focused around seeking justice, celebrating life, and spreading happiness. Of the thousands of entries we’ve received so far, fewer than three per cent are selfies – shattering the image of younger people as self-obsessed and naive.

“We received so many honest stories about personal hardship, and there is a consistent theme of people being unafraid to show vulnerability. We’re so pleased have received such thought-provoking and powerful submissions to our exhibit so far.

“Our aim is to show what life is like through the lens of younger people in this country, and what we have seen so far tells a compelling story of friendship, creativity and unapologetic defiance.”

This week, 11,000 images will be featured in Fujifilm’s MyLife exhibition in London’s Truman Brewery from October 24 to 27 and for every image displayed in the gallery, Fujifilm will donate £2.50 to youth charity, The Mix. All entrants will receive a free high quality print and have a chance to win one of 10 cameras.
