These flat-pack Hobbit houses could be the solution to your London renting woes
If the price of your London rent has you wondering how you’ll ever afford to buy a place in the capital, these pre-fabricated Hobbit homes might just be the solution you've been waiting for.
Designed by Green Magic Homes, the eco-friendly Hobbit holes are designed to form part of the landscape and once built, they can be covered with grass to create your own roof garden - just like Bilbo Baggins' house.
You can even grow your own vegetables on top of your house, should you really want to be at one with nature.
The smallest one-bedroom pods measure 400 square foot and take around three days to assemble. They are open plan and come with space for a generous master bedroom with ensuite and a lounge/kitchen/diner.
Built from prefabricated shells made from fibre-reinforced polymer, the homes are waterproof and designed to withstand strong winds - so there’s no worry of your Shire dwelling crumbling under British weather.
Astonishingly, they cost just $14,998 (£10,000) - a snip of the price of the average studio in the current London housing climate.
But if you really want to splash out for a forever home, there’s a 1,917 square foot four-bed flat-pack house up for grabs that comes with a separate lounge, kitchen, dining room and four bathrooms.
The four-bedroom bungalows cost just costs $66,596 (£45,000) and can even be expanded to include a swimming pool and an enclaved garage.
And best of all? There are no stairs to run up and down.
Now you just need a patch of accommodating land and a couple of friends to help you to put it together.
