This beautifully-designed bistro is part of concept store Clerkenwell London that packs everything from tailored menswear to a wine cellar into its stylish two floors.

Who’s behind it: the clever team behind Clerkenwell London, who were influenced by the Scandinavian neutrals of local studio BarberOsgerby as well as bringing British-based designers into the mix.

The look: This elegant bistro is indeed a Scandi-lover’s dream. It's simple yet sexy: think white walls, different tones of wood, tall plants, parquet detailing and fluffy sheepskins draped over Carl Hansen wishbone chairs.

The bar, dressed in a palette of charcoal and soot is what draws the eye. Yellow leather bar stools perch made in Portugal perch over the bar, providing a neat view of artisan spirits and potted plants. The artwork is curated by contemporary dealer Julian Page. In short, you'll want to snap away on your iPhone and try and recreate the aesthetic at home.

What should I try: The meat is top-notch – it’s all from esteemed butchers HG Walters - as is the Cornish-sourced fish. Our dinner highlights were half a dozen Porthilly oysters, pig head croquettes with celeriac and rare rib eye from The Lake District with beef dripping chips. If you still have room, order a cheeseboard and ask the sommelier to bring some pudding wine.

Go there if: if you want anything from a flat white in the morning, to a quick lunch or a digestif on the way home. If you go for dinner, you can decamp after pudding to the 1970s-inspired Vinyl Lounge which has its own martini bar and lots of rifle through.

Cheque out: around £130 for two including wine
