The 30-room Hotel Iso-Syöte is part of the Iso-Syöte ski resort on the southern border of Finnish Lapland, 150km from the Arctic Circle.

Its new Eagles View suite opened this month with contemporary glass roof and walls for maximum views of the snow-covered forests and valleys of the Syöte National Park (also useful if those often elusive Northern Lights should show).

A tree rises up through the centre of the split-level suite, its branches supporting the upper floor reached via a spiral staircase. There’s a circular bed and Jacuzzi, both with 360 degree views of the surrounding hills. The bathroom has a sauna and the living room has a log fire, but if guests should require that certain extra element such as a reindeer skin placed in front of the fireplace (to take home as a gift) that too can be arranged.

Activities include snowmobiling and husky sledding, visiting a nearby reindeer farm where you can try herding, followed by a reindeer-drawn sleigh ride.

Four-nights from £1,320pp half-board with return flights from Heathrow via Helsinki to Rovaniemi, Kuusamo or Oulu, activities above and transfers, until April. For more information, visit mightyfinecompany.com
