With a recently opened adults only area, Paradise Cove caters for families or couples in a chic environment...

Where is it? In the Yasawas, some of the most picturesque and scenic islands in Fiji. “Visiting the islands once was limited to cruise ships, with passengers unable to actually set foot on the islands until the 1950s and land-based tourism ventures restricted until 1987,” explains Fiji Tourism. However, thanks to the Fiji Government providing an ecotourism startup fund and the arrival of the Yasawa Flyer, these remote getaways are now home to boutique resorts such as Paradise Cove.

The lowdown: This is a very well run resort with great facilities and a beach which features impressive coral. There is a main swimming pool and a beachside bar located in front of a large restaurant which is a popular spot for families.

The newly opened adults only area called The Cove has two further swimming pools and a bar. It is a haven for couples and friends seeking a quiet escape in stylish surroundings.

The white sand beach offers all tide swimming. There are also plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for guest use around the pools.

Head to the PADI dive shop where you can arrange diving, game fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkelling equipment, day trips and adventure activities.

With an air conditioned gym, kids club, teen tent and a day spa, there is something for everyone.

What can I expect from my accommodation? If you are travelling as a couple it is worth booking a villa (Paradise Cove’s version of a Fijian bungalow) in The Cove area. Alternatively, the Paradise Garden Bungalow features the resort's trademark open aired tropical en suite which gives the illusion of showering in jungle like surroundings. It is suitable for up to three guests with a double and single bed. All accommodation is air conditioned and well maintained.

On the menu: the food at Paradise Cove is excellent. Ingredients are sourced from the local farmers and there is an inventive menu. The resort grows much of its own fruits, with pawpaw, pineapple, bananas, mango, passion fruit and an extensive array of herbs and vegetables. Opt for a meal plan (around £207 daily) which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are options for vegetarians and food allergies or gluten intolerances are considered.

Head to The Cove for a casual lunch - we recommend the wood fire pizza or a club sandwich.

The real highlight is the five-course dinner served in the main open plan restaurant. From delicious curry to wasabi beef, there are always interesting choices.

Anything else I should know? We were very impressed with the coral at this resort. You can swim straight out from the hotel beach and embark on some brilliant snorkelling without the need for an extra boat trip.

How do I get there? search and find cheap flights to Fiji's Nadi airport on Momondo. The site is super easy to navigate and helped us find the most reasonably priced flights available. It also suggests popular international routes so if you are tying this in as part of a wider trip you can assess the best options for your budget. Visit momondo.co.uk; for the latest offers. We flew with Fiji Airways and were very impressed with the service and levels of comfort.

Once you reach Nadi, the quickest way to reach Paradise Cove is by seaplane. Turtle Airways will send a driver to meet you at the airport and then take you to the seaplane HQ which is a short drive away. A magnificent half an hour seaplane journey will offer breathtaking views and a James Bond style arrival. Prices start from FJD $380 (£140) one way and can be booked on turtleairways.com.

If you are island hopping there is also the option of the Yasawa Flyer which costs around £65 per person and departs Denarau Marina daily, stopping off once a day at the resort, awesomefiji.com.

How do I book? Visit paradisecoveresortfiji.com. Prices cost from around FJD$339 (£123) per bungalow, excluding the meal plan.
