The art of rustic chic in Turkey

P49 Patara Beach
4 February 2013

Once a major Lycian naval and trading port, Patara in southern Turkey is now a small village better known for its dune-backed 12km white-sand beach — unusual for this region. In true Turkish style, ruins including a triumphal arch and a necropolis lie to one end.

New to Elixir Holidays, Prima Donna Hotel isn’t actually a hotel, strictly speaking, but five air-conditioned lodges with cute kitchenettes with red Smeg fridges set in six acres of shaded woodland overlooking Patara Beach. The

décor is an eclectic mix of furniture and a collection of sculptures and objets d’art — a mannequin reclining poolside being one example.

More expected facilities include a swimming pool surrounded by cabana day beds, the Locanda roof terrace restaurant, an open-air cinema and complimentary quad and mountain bikes.

Seven nights in a lodge with private deck and hot tub from £1,290pp including return flights, executive transfers, a one-hour couple’s massage and one dinner from the “chef’s recommended” menu. Book by March 31, elixirholidays.com
