Cool stay of the week: a suspended tree tent in a Welsh forest

Surrounded by a woodland canopy, this is the true meaning of ‘back to nature’
1/15

In the middle of a private conservation site near Builth Well in Wales, you’ll find this week’s Cool Stay of the Week.

Suspended in a woodland canopy, two tree tents use aviation techniques to stay elevated. Inside the spherical tents, a cosy bed awaits which, during the daytime, can be folded into a sofa.

Outside, among the private woodland, there’s an outdoor shower and wood-burning stove across the suspended bridge from the tent and a flushing toilet is located just up the hill.

A quaint creek is nearby, offering the calming sounds of rushing water while you read a book – the nearest mobile signal is a 10-minute walk away so prepare for a digital detox as well.

If you want to stretch your legs, you’re situated near a moorland walk with a pub en route. Further afield, you can head to the stunning Elan Valley or Builth Wells for when you need supplies.

Where: Newbridge-on-Wye in Powys, Wales

Sleeps: 2 per tent.

Price: £135 per night.
