Suites fit for A-listers, a rooftop pool and chic restaurant — this smart escape in Los Angeles ticks all the boxes...

Where is it? On a tree-lined residential street in Beverly Hills, across the road from the kind of Los Angeles properties you see in the movies.

Design details: Slick and sharp, this hotel exudes contemporary glamour. Recently refreshed by Smith/Firestone Associates (SFA Design), guests are greeted by chic lobby and dining areas with statement lighting, sculptures and a cosy fireplace.

The restaurant has also undergone an overhaul, along with the hotel’s 116 suites. A fawn, blush and indigo palette is merged with metallic tones, smooth leather and textured wall surfaces. The sumptuous bedrooms include Venetian cut-glass mirrors, caramel-coloured walls and walk in wardrobe areas. Floor-to-ceiling suede and velvet headboards stand out. A smart balance of swish and refined.

Is there a pool? Yes, the outdoor heated pool on the rooftop is a tranquil spot. Pitch up with a book and unwind there after the hustle and bustle of LA life.

Which room? The 650 sq-ft suites come with all the amenities a Hollywood star needs including a king-sized bed, private balcony and a grand seating and lounge area with an Italian-style corner sofa. A glamorous runway-like dressing room has a tailored vanity area, spacious closets, an over-sized three-way mirror, ample seating and a makeup mirror with customisable lighting. Little wonder this was the hotel of choice for many A-listers on the eve of the Golden Globes and Oscars.

On the menu: Breakfast at Avec Nous is divine. The California take on the classic French bistro is under the creative direction of Executive Chef Olivier Quignon. From simple dishes such as the Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal to the complete American Breakfast, ingredients are wholesome and moreish. Ooh la la.

Is there a spa? Yes, it's all part and parcel of the five star experience. The intimate space comprises treatment rooms, steam rooms and a fitness centre. Signature massages instill deep relaxation, detoxification, and rejuvenation.

Best for: A sophisticated and modern retreat in one of Beverly Hills' most exclusive areas. The service here is second to none.

When to go: In the summer if the rooftop pool is a big draw. Or relax in front of the fire in colder months.

Price: Around £500 per night for a suite.

Book: Reservations can be made at viceroyhotelsandresorts.com.

How to get there: Norwegian Air offers five low-cost flights, on the new Dreamliner aircraft, per week from London Gatwick to Los Angeles. Fares start from £169 one way, or £308 return. To book or for more details visit norwegian.com.
