You could easily get lost at Galgorm.

Set in 163 acres of woodland, on the edge of the River Maine with 122 rooms, four restaurants, a pub and a bar, this is a mega resort packed with plenty of Irish charm.

In a nutshell:

Adored in Northern Ireland, Galgorm is the place to get married (the weekend we visited there were three weddings happening on the same night, though you’d never have known it).

If you’re not looking for a venue in which to say ‘I do’, a trip across the water for the spa is reason enough to visit. The award-winning facilities are a sprawl of saunas, steam rooms and hot tubs all set in pretty landscaped gardens with plenty of sun loungers and private nooks.

It's a five-star hotel, the likes of Liam Neeson and Michael Fassbender have stayed here, but there isn’t a hint of stuffiness. You’ll be given a good Northern Irish welcome as soon as you pull up to the reception, even if you’re not a movie star.

Famous for:

Thanks to an £11m extension, the famous spa now features a new Thermal Village - the first of its kind in Northern Ireland - set on the banks of the River Maine. Featuring outdoor hot tubs, a snow room, a special Celtic sauna infusion (this is fabulously theatrical and a must-do), a herb caldarium, a samarium, a laconium, steam rooms and a hammam, this is wellness on steroids.

The treatment:

Throughout August and September Galgorm is the only spa in the world to have Aromatherapy Associates’ first new blend in seven years, the highly anticipated Forest Therapy.

To celebrate the product launch, the spa has devised a Forest Therapy Massage. Inspired by wellness concept of the moment, forest bathing, the 60-minute treatment begins with a cleansing, guided inhalation, followed by a deep tension releasing massage on the back and legs. A nourishing mud mask is applied to hands and feet and it’s all rounded off with a bliss-inducing scalp massage.

Clear your schedule for a long, post-massage snooze in the relaxation room afterwards, this is a top class treatment that’ll leave your body calm and your mind quietened.
