Arsenal star Aaron Ramsay tied the knot with his childhood sweetheart in a ceremony at a Castle in Wales.

He married Colleen Rowlands at Caldicot Castle on Saturday, arriving by helicopter for the service.

Team mate Theo Walcott attended as he was not at the World Cup due to an injury.

Countrymen and fellow international team mates Craig Bellamy and Gareth Bale were also among the guests.

The couple shunned wedding gifts, instead asking guests to donate to a Parkinsons charity via JustGiving.

Locals posted online of their excitement at the wedding.

Kerry Pritchard wrote: “Saw Aaron Ramsey fly into Caldicot Castle in a helicopter today for his wedding.

“His bride-to-be arrived five minutes later in a car. Everyone was watching his arrival and nearly missed her. He flew out again in the same helicopter three hours later.”

Ramsay, 23, tweeted today after his club's fixtures were revealed.

He wrote: "Seeing the fixtures come out is making me excited for the new season. Can't wait for the first game at home against Palace!"

The meticulously restored castle is described as one of the 'best kept secrets' in Wales and regularly hosts weddings and banquets in its refurbished Great Gatehouse Hall.
