Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton in hospital to have heart recorder installed

Former Liberty X star Michelle Heaton is having "a small operation" to fit a heart recorder after she was taken ill last week.

The singer, who is being treated at hospital in Watford, has kept up a steady stream of comments on Twitter during her stay.

Writing on the micro-blogging site today, she said: "I am having a small operation to fit a 3 year heart recorder this afternoon It's scary but so ...

"...grateful to £watfordgeneral £nhs 4looking after me & deciding this is best course of action. I'm sure the operation will b fine."

Last week, Heaton told fans: "As you may or may not know, I have suffered from long and scary heart problems over the years."

Heaton, who was previously married to singer Andy Scott-Lee, married Irish businessman Hugh Hanley in 2010 and gave birth to their daughter in January.
