A series of swastika signs have been left at a children’s playground in an area of north London area with a high Jewish population.

The Shomrim neighbourhood watch group said they had found six of the Nazi symbols, some scrawled on pieces of paper, in Stamford Hill over the past two nights.

Shulem Stern from the Shomrim said at least one local mother would not let her children play there anymore because she feared neo-Nazis were loitering in the area near Amhurst Park.

He said: “There's a sense of anxiety and fear amongst local parents.

“The playground neighbours a Jewish care home where many elderly Jewish residents live, some of them Holocaust survivors.

“It's a mindless act, I hope the ones responsible are caught and brought to justice.”

Stamford Hill's Sergeant Alex Bloxham branded the situation “absolutely not acceptable” and urged people who knew what had happened to come forward.

He added local police officers would be out and about in the ward this week.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
