Detectives investigating the murder of a young father who was gunned down in south London are offering a £20,000 for information.

Akeem Moore, 22, was killed and another man was injured after a man gunman burst into a garden and opened fire in Croydon on October 7 last year.

A 36-year-old man had been due to face trial at the Old Bailey earlier this year but prosecutors dropped the case, saying there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.

A year on, the Metropolitan Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling said: "We believe that Akeem went to an address in Eastney Road that evening to meet a friend, where in the rear garden he was fatally shot by a male who had entered via a side gate of the premises giving access to the garden.

"The suspect, described as a black male, discharged the firearm twice resulting in Akeem and another male being shot. A year on, I am extremely interested in anyone who was there or in the vicinity that has yet to come forward, or anyone with any information regarding the person responsible for this murder.”

The mother of Mr Moore, an aspiring musician who performed under the name Tuggzy, described her son as "the most loving, fun, caring, cheeky and handsome young man".

Lillian Nelson added: "His brother and sister, Shafeeq and Floann, truly love and miss their brother as their love was unbreakable. And it's the same for his cousins and close friends. Akeem always looked out for them.

"As for his children, Lakai, Akira and Orion, there is not a day that goes by were they don't ask about their dad and if he is coming back. And that's the most heartbreaking question to answer.

"Even though his oldest son knows his father has gone to play football in heaven, he still would like to know when his dad will be back home."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8721 4205 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
