A person has been arrested after a collision between a car and a bus which ended up in the front garden of a south London home.

Police said they were called to the collision between a car and the route 358 bus on Upper Elmers End Road, Beckenham, shortly after 1am on Saturday morning.

Witness Lucy Cranfield said she saw the bus in someone's front garden very close to the house.

"It was around 3.30am [when I got there] and there were a few police and two ambulances with people inside, but no one looked seriously injured," she said.

"There was also a blue car that looked like it had been in collision with the bus as well as another empty bus.

"It seemed like the accident had happened quite a long time before I was there so wasn't as chaotic as u would have expected.

"But still very shocking to see! And for the amount of police and ambulance it must have been quite bad."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a person had been arrested for failing to provide a specimen for analysis before being taken into custody at a south London police station.

He added the driver of the car was taken to hospital and the driver of the bus was treated at the scene by paramedics.
