Children launched fireworks at younger schoolchildren in an “extremely dangerous” stunt as they made their way home in south London this afternoon.

Secondary school-age children fired the explosives at terrified younger pupils from a nearby primary school on the school run in Croydon today.

It comes just days after a two-year-old was burnt by a firework after “idiots” hurled bangers around Hackney.

Police were called to Shirley Road in Addiscombe at 3.30pm to reports of the children mis-using fireworks and directing them at younger children.

He told the Standard: “Misuse of fireworks is extremely dangerous especially around children and police will take action on those who mis-use fireworks.”
