A cyclist is in a serious condition after a collision with a Mini on Tower Bridge.

Police said they found the man lying on the bridge shortly before 4am this morning.

The cyclist, a 25-year-old man, was taken by the London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital with a number of injuries.

Scotland Yard said his condition was "serious" but "not thought to be life-threatening".

There have been no arrests and police say they are investigating.

The collision closed the bridge in both directions, with delays expected into rush hour and police advising motorists to avoid the area where possible.

On Friday the third cyclist to die on London's roads this year was killed in a collision with a truck in Bloomsbury, central London. The 25-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene on Vernon Place shortly after 9.15pm.
