A "depraved" man who raped a woman in a “brutal” two-hour long attack in broad daylight has been today handed a life sentence.
Aqil Ali dragged his victim to a secluded spot in a London park and subjected her to a horrific sex attack during which he raped her multiple times.
He has been told he will service a minimum of ten years in prison and will be monitored and on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
Ali, 31, from Greenford, approached his victim as she walked to work on a Saturday morning in March.
After asking her for a cigarette, to which she replied that she didn’t smoke, he dragged the woman, aged in her 40s, into Perivale Park and brutally attacked her.
After carrying out the two-hour attack Ali stole money from the victim and fled the scene.
Despite being injured and extremely distressed the victim managed to run to a nearby shop and call for help.
Police investigated CCTV showing Ali entering the park and he was arrested at his home the following day.
Ali was convicted of a sickening ten offences, including kidnapping, two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, attempted rape, actual bodily harm, and theft.
Detective Inspector Neil John of the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command, said: "I must firstly express my thanks and admiration for the victim.
"Be in no doubt, this was a truly horrific crime. Ali was brutal and vicious, and carried out a sustained attack on a woman who was innocently making her way to work.
"I am both pleased and relieved that he has been convicted and that he will now be made to face the consequences of his own cruelty and depravity."
