Detectives have released an e-fit of a man who yelled “Barcelona, Barcelona” in the face of a pensioner before mugging him for his £30,000 diamond-encrusted watch.

The incident happened in Ledbury Gardens, Notting Hill, shortly before 8pm on July 31 last year, Scotland Yard said.

An unknown man approached the 69-year-old victim and began talking to him about football.

After shouting the northern Spanish club’s name in his face, the mugger is said to have grabbed the pensioner’s wrist in an effort to remove his Cartier watch.

During a struggle the victim was pushed to the ground and the assailant made off with his expensive timepiece.

Police described the stolen item as diamond-encrusted with a grey and silver face, with black watch straps. The victim was not injured.

Detectives have pieced together details of the man behind the robbery, and today released an e-fit of the 6ft tall 25-year-old man, who officers said spoke with a Middle Eastern accent.

Contact police on the non-emergency line 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information.
