A man has been found dead with facial injuries in a south-east London park.

Police were called at 8.10am on Friday to reports of an unresponsive man at Shrewsbury Park in Greenwich.

The London Ambulance Service told the Standard they were also called to reports of an incident at the junction between Hatton Close and Garland Road at 8.02am.

The man was found with injuries to his face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are underway to identify the man and notify his next of kin, the police said.

A crime scene remains in place at the location and no arrests have been made.
