Hunt for Millwall clash suspects after 'worst football violence in years'

These men are wanted in connection with disorder described by police as “some of the worst football violence” of recent years.

Dozens of fans were involved when trouble erupted at the Millwall and Everton FA Cup clash in south London last month. One man suffered a life-changing injury after being slashed across the face during the fighting on Saturday January 26.

Today police released images of 12 people they want to speak to over incidents before, during and after the match.

Detective Sergeant Matt Simpson, from the Met’s Public Order Investigation team, said: “The disorder which broke out was some of the worst football violence we have witnessed for a very long time ... and caused chaos in the streets.”

Trouble between fans started before the match in the Hawkstone Road area of Southwark, near Millwall’s stadium The Den.

There were also pitch invasions by fans during the match, which ended in a 3-2 victory for Millwall.

An officer was injured and the Met said a number of coaches carrying Everton fans were damaged.
