Chicago rapper Lil Reese is reportedly in a critical condition after being shot in the neck.

Paramedics identified Reese - real name Tavares Taylor - after he was taken to hospital following the shooting.

The rapper has worked with the likes of Chief Keef in the past, and has more than one million followers on Instagram.

According to ABC7Chicago, police received reports of a shooting in Country Club Hills, Illinois, on Monday.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found a bloodstained car, with witnesses saying the injured person had been taken from the scene.

Nearby hospitals were checked and police found Mr Taylor at the South Suburban Hospital's emergency room in Hazel Crest.

He had been identified at by hospital workers. No arrests have been made.
