A businesswoman from London has been jailed in Dubai along with her Irish lover for breaking strict Muslim decency and alcohol laws.

Rebecca Blake, 30, was allegedly found topless and straddling Conor McRedmond, 28, an engineer, in the back of a taxi and the pair were arrested.

They have spent the past year trying to avoid being sent to prison but yesterday lost their final appeal and were sentenced to two months in jail.

The pair had denied having sex after drinking vodka for ten hours, but the cab driver’s evidence was damning.

Qaiser Khan told prosecutors: “The man’s shirt was open, his trousers were down to his knees and the woman was not wearing any underwear.”

Ms Blake, 30, from Croydon, was sacked immediately from her £100,000-a-year recruitment job.

The United Arab Emirates’ highest Supreme Court yesterday ruled the charge of “breach of honour with consent” would not be overturned.

Ms Blake said: “I am devastated by this result and gutted this has been dragging on for a year.

“I am very scared about going to prison.

“I have heard such bad things about what happens behind bars here.”

Ms Blake and Mr McRedmond reportedly spent £45,000 on lawyers in their failed bid to clear their names.

Their defence teams even produced DNA reports to prove they did not have sexual intercourse.

Both of them will be deported after serving their sentences, which are likely to commence next week.
