A man accused of biting off a dad's finger at a primary school nativity play is due to go on trial today.

Offshore worker Lee Wilkinson, 39, of South Shields, is said to have attacked Michael Dent, 32, at Harton Primary School in South Tyneside last December.

Wilkinson denies witness intimidation and wounding with intent.

The trial is set to take place at Newcastle Crown Court.
