A 25-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he appeared in court today charged with a student's murder.

Kingsley Harvey, of Leytonstone, appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court to face charges of shooting part-time minicab driver Abdi Gutale, 24, last month.

Mr Gutale died after being gunned down as he drove his Vauxhall Zafira down a residential street in the early hours of May 14.

The victim, also of Leytonstone, was on his way home after finishing his minicab shift.

He had taken up driving to help fund his education, and his family said he was "in the wrong place at the wrong time" when he was killed.
