A man accused of killing high-flying banking executive Oliver Dearlove in a one-punch attack during a night out in Blackheath today denied murder.

Trevor Timon, 31, allegedly knocked the 30-year-old former Coutts banker unconscious as he chatted with friends and waited for a taxi, on August 27.

Mr Dearlove, a relationship manager at private bank Duncan Lawrie in Belgravia, died in hospital the following day from head injuries.

Timon, of Heavitree Road, Plumstead, appeared at the Old Bailey this morning via videolink from HMP Belmarsh to plead not guilty to murder.

Mr Dearlove, from Eltham, who was planning to buy a house with his long-term partner and start a family, has been socialising with friends at a bar in Blackheath this night.

It is said he had walked towards Tranquil Vale at around 12.30am to catch a taxi home, and was attacked as he chatted to four women as they waited for the cab.

Timon was remanded in custody by Judge Rebecca Poulet QC until a trial starting on February 13 next year.
