A man has been stabbed in the neck in east London.

Police said the 45-year-old was slashed across the neck in the early hours this morning.

Officers were called at 4.24am and found him in Lower Clapton Road, Hackney.

They believe the man was attacked in the street near to the 77 Social Club in Dalston Lane.

He was taken to an east London hospital where his condition was originally said to be critical, but is no longer believed to be life-threatening.

Hackney Police are investigating and have closed parts of Dalston Lane and Lower Clapton Road.

Anyone who saw the attack or has information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 and quote the reference CAD1343/6Apr.
