Police are investigating after a man was shot in the leg in a supermarket car park in south west London.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said they were called by Surrey Police at about 12:50am today after a man alleged he had been shot in the car park of Waitrose in Coombe Lane, Raynes Park.

The man went to an address in Surrey before he was taken to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance service.

His injuries were not thought to be life-threatening and the man later discharged himself from hospital.

Officers from the Trident Command are investigating and anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
