A manhunt has been launched after a young woman was raped on Putney Heath.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was targeted as she walked along Roehampton Lane at about 10pm on Tuesday.

Police said the man approached her before attacking her on the heath near Ponsonby Road.

Detectives are hunting a suspect described as aged in his late 20s to early 30s, with an olive complexion and thick black hair.

At the time of the attack he was wearing a dark jacket and baggy trousers.

Detectives from the Met’s Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Command are investigating.

Anyone with information is urged to call officers based at Sutton Police Station on 020 8721 4106 or 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
