A man has been charged following a triple stabbing on a night bus in east London.

A 34-year-old man was rushed to hospital following the attack in Mile End shortly before 1am on Wednesday. He remained in a critical condition on Thursday. Two other men – aged 34 and 22 – were also taken to hospital with non-life threatening slash wounds.

Police said Samuel Modeste, 34, from Leytonstone, has been charged with three counts of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

He was due to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
