Moment thief empties till during convenience store burglary

This is the moment a hooded man empties a cash drawer during a burglary at a food and wine store in east London.

Detectives from Tower Hamlets are investigating the theft at a shop in Hackney Road on Wednesday, January 6.

Police were called at around 6.40am after cash and tobacco was reported stolen.

The burglary took place some time between 2am and 5.20am.

Police released CCTV overlooking the front counter which shows a hooded man removing the cash drawer. The till is later seen emptied.

The footage also showed the man searching for cigarettes behind the counter.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the man shown on CCTV.

He is described as a white man, 6ft tall and aged in his 30s. He wore a dark blue hooded top with a white stripe in the middle of the hood.

He was also seen wearing an Adidas tracksuit and light brown shoes.
