Murder police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in a house following a fight in east London.

Scotland Yard officers believe the victim, thought to be in his late 20s, was assaulted by up to six men shortly before midnight on Monday.

He was found dead at an address on Sebert Road, Forest Gate, at about 3pm the following day, police said.

Police and paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene. He died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen, a post mortem examination found.

Detectives have pieced together the man's last movements, and they believe he was injured during an altercation on Leyton High Road.

Officers believe they know the deceased man's identity, but they are yet to inform his next of kin.

A 39-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested on Tuesday 12 on suspicion of murder and on Wednesday evening remained in custody at an east London police station.

"I believe that the deceased was assaulted during this altercation and want to identify anyone who may have seen something that can help.

"He then travelled back to an address in Sebert Road, where he was found dead.
