A man is seriously injured in hospital after being stabbed in the stomach in east London.

Police officers discovered the injured man, believed to be in his 20s, while on patrol in Prince Regent Lane, Newham, at about 10.35pm on Thursday.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital with stab wounds to his abdomen, police said, but remains in a serious but stable condition.

The street, near the junction with Glen Road and Newham University Hospital, was cordoned off for several hours following the stabbing.

Detectives from Newham CID are investigating the incident but there have been no arrests so far.

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
