A teenage girl was abducted by two men and subjected to a serious sex attack as she walked to school.
The schoolgirl, who was wearing her uniform, was snatched from a busy Oxford street and driven off before being assaulted.
She was found by police knocking on doors and asking for help four hours later.
Thames Valley Police are increasing patrols and have issued a warning to parents about children walking to school alone.
Superintendent Christian Bunt said: “In light of this we are stepping up patrols in the area to provide reassurance and there will be a very visible police presence whilst the investigation continues.
"I would ask parents to consider the safety of their children and if they are walking to school make sure they try to keep in groups.”
He added: "I would ask people to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious."
Police said the girl was taken from the area of Marston Ferry Road and Banbury Road, Summertown, at around 8.25am on Wednesday.
She was abducted by two white men in a silver car and was found by officers over a mile away on Cavendish Drive, Marston, at midday.
The victim is now in the care of specialist officers.
Detective chief inspector Simon Steel has appealed for anyone who may have seen the abduction take place to come forward.
He said: "It is possible you may have witnessed this incident and may not have realised the severity of the situation."
