A pedestrian has died in hospital two days after he was hit by a car in south London.

The 55-year-old man was knocked down at the junction of Kingston Road and Wellington Crescent, in New Malden, at 7am on Tuesday.

The man, from Mitcham, was taken to a west London hospital for treatment but died from his injuries today.

Police said his next of kin have been informed, but formal identification had not taken place.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and was not arrested, Scotland Yard said.

Detectives today appealed for witnesses to the crash to speak to them.

Anyone with information can call the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 020 8543 5157.
