Police were forced to close roads around Green Lanes on Saturday evening after dozens of revellers turned up and tried to get into a party.

Around 150 people were dispersed from Green Lanes, at the junction with Seven Sisters Road, at around 9.20pm.

A police spokesman said they had been trying to gain entry to a party at a venue in the area.

He said road closures were put in place to ensure the safety of the people who had been moved on from the venue.

People living close to the scene said police had shut down raves in the area before.

Remi Makinde said on Twitter: "Few months back kids attempted to throw block party, Which police promptly ended before it began."

One woman was arrested during the incident, on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

She remained in custody on Sunday morning.
