Detectives investigating the theft of an antique sculpture of a panther worth £100,000 have released a CCTV image of a man they are trying to trace.

The stolen bronze antique, created in 1925 by Francois Pompon, went missing while on show at the Masterpiece Art Fair held at the Royal Hospital in Chelsea on Wednesday, July 1.

An assistant noticed the artwork was missing from its plinth at 1.30pm.

CCTV footage shows a man taking the sculpture and putting it under his jacket, according to police.

Detective Constable Pete O'Brien, from Kensington and Chelsea CID, said today: "We know he left in a taxi which dropped him at Appold Street at the junction with Primrose Street near Liverpool Street station."
