An heiress to the £300 million Berkeley Homes property empire is being sought by police over claims she assaulted two officers near her Earl’s Court apartment.
Chloe Pidgley, 26, was due in court yesterday to face accusations that she assaulted Met Pcs Calum Jackson and Jake Harris in Warwick Road on March 29. However, when she failed to turn up for the hearing, Westminster magistrates issued a warrant for her arrest.
Pidgley is the granddaughter of Berkeley Homes founder Tony Pidgley and an heiress to the family’s estimated £300 million property fortune.
The alleged attacks on the officers are said to have happened just four days after Pidgley had been in court to see her violent ex-boyfriend jailed for beating her up. Isleworth crown court heard Pidgley had been left curled up in a ball and screaming for mercy in a sustained attack by Antonio Henry, who refused to accept their relationship was over and threw a chair and a radiator at her.
She broke down in tears during the March 25 sentencing, as Henry was jailed for 21 months after admitting assault and criminal damage. Pidgley later told the Standard she was “over the moon” her ex-boyfriend was in prison, adding: “I feel so much safer now. I’m so happy. I just feel like it’s a fresh start.”
The former receptionist, sister of model Chantelle Pidgley, was charged by postal requisition with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and told to attend court yesterday. When she did not appear, magistrates issued a warrant authorising police to detain Pidgley and bring her to court in custody.
Prosecutor Malachy Pakenham said magistrates will have to decide whether the case needs to be dealt with by a Crown Court. No details of the alleged assaults were given in the brief court hearing. Pidgley, of Earl’s Court, has not yet entered pleas to the charges.
