Police are hunting a hooded thug who reversed into two elderly ladies with a mobility scooter, sending them sprawling onto the pavement and needing medical treatment.

Shocking CCTV footage shows a man wearing a black hooded jacket riding the mobility scooter. He drives it on the pavement past a bus stop in Welling, south-east London before backing up directly into the women.

One of the women targeted is believed to be aged in her 90s.

After the first lady tumbles to ground, the scooter continues backwards into the second woman, who is also sent sprawling onto the pavement.

The man sought by police then makes off down the road in the mobility scooter as witnesses rush to the help the stricken victims.

Ian Gooch, the owner of Southeast Models in Upper Wickham Lane, where the CCTV was taken, told the Standard: “I heard a commotion, by the time I got to my door, people were helping them up

He added that the second lady to get hit came into the shop later.

He said: “The second lady to get hit, came into the shop later and said that she sorted her knees out, one of which was cut, when she got home.

"She said she also hit her head on the bus stop as she fell, bending an earring.

"The daughter in law of the first lady took her to hospital last night to get her checked over."
