A rapist sentenced to life behind bars escaped from an open prison.

Wayne Jones, 39, ran away from the Category D lockup he was detained in on Sunday evening.

People have been warned not to approach the convict, who is an inmate of HMP North Sea Camp near Boston, Lincolnshire.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: "We are warning the public not to approach a man who has absconded from prison.

"He is described as 5ft 7ins tall, of small build, with brown hair and brown eyes.

"He has a scar under his left eye and a tattoo on his left wrist."

People who spot the felon are asked to call Lincolnshire Police on 999, quoting incident 367 of November 25.

Sightings can also be reported by email to force.control@lincs.pnn.police.uk with Incident 367 in the subject line.
