The nephew of serial killer Rose West was sentenced to 18 years in prison today after he was convicted of drugging and raping a 12-year-old girl.
Steven Letts, 39, was found guilty of abduction and rape following a six-day trial.
Letts was revealed to have have snatched his victim from a children's home before plying her with vodka and cannabis at his flat.
The son of Graham Letts, Rose West's brother, insisted he has taken the girl back to his flat but had not had sex with her.
He instead claimed he was acting as a "good Samaritan" after claiming to have seen the girl's carer speak to her aggressively.
He was simultaneously sentenced in relation to a number of other offences, including having a knife in public, bicycle theft, heroin possession, and handling stolen goods.
The jury of six men and six women returned guilty verdicts on both charges of rape and abduction after 90 minutes.
He will serve concurrent shorter sentences for his multiple other convictions.
Rose and Fred West committed a series of murders throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
While he committed suicide in prison in 1995, Rose remains an inmate at HMP Low Newton, in Durham, after being convicted of ten murders in 1995.
