A schoolgirl experienced in martial arts beat off a man who attempted to attack her in a park.
The 14-year-old girl was walking home through Tilgate Park in Crawley on October 4 when the man grabbed her by both arms.
But her self-defence training meant she was able to break free and kick and punch the attacker.
Sussex Police said shortly afterwards a 35-year-old man from the area was arrested on suspicion of assault.
An appeal has launched to find any witnesses to the attack and to find out if there have been any similar incidents.
The man is described as white, thin, 5ft 7in, with pale skin and stubble.
Detective Inspector Andy Bennett said: "Although we have made an arrest, we need to speak to anyone who was in Tilgate Park on Saturday morning and saw what happened.
"We need to find people who may have seen a man acting suspiciously in or around the park on Saturday or on other occasions.
"The teenager was badly shaken by what happened but was not injured.
"We do not know what the man's motive was but need to identify him to find out."
