This is the shocking moment an elderly drink driver ploughs her car through a shop window into a six-year-old boy picking out sweets.
Footage shows Marion Smith, 79, smashing her vehicle through the front of Landside Wine Stores in Leigh, Manchester.
As the car comes crashing into the shop it appears to hit the small child, whose family frantically run to his aid.
She then appears to try and reverse out again, sending goods crashing down around her car.
The boy managed to escape the incident with just a few cuts and bruises, police say.
Today, Smith admitted failing to provide a sample of breath and driving without due care and attention. She was disqualified from driving for three years, given a 50-hour community order and fined £170 in costs.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has released video of the incident on May 29 to highlight the dangers of drink driving.
Sergeant John Brennan from GMP’s Road Policing Unit said: “This was a horrific ordeal for the young boy and his family.
“Thankfully he is alive and well but those terrifying moments will stay with his family forever.
“When you choose to drive a car after having a drink, you are also choosing to put other people at risk. This family popped to the shop to buy some sweets yet found themselves caught up in somebody else’s selfish decision to drive while drunk."
