Smash and grab robbers escaped with £50,000 worth of luxury clothing after a raid on a store in Sloane Street last night.

Intruders smashed through the glass front door of the luxury cashmere store N. Peal clearing several wardrobes of stock.

The store said an alarm sounded but police did not arrive in time.

Adam Holdsworth, the store’s managing director, said : “They knew exactly what they were coming for and had targeted our most expensive cashmere knitwear and fur garments.”

No-one was hurt during the incident last night.

The raid comes after it was revealed that £200 cashmere N. Peal sweaters feature in the upcoming Spectre James Bond film.

A Met spokeswoman said : “Police were called at about 12.30am last night to a shop in Sloane Street following an alarm activation.

“Officers arrived on scene and found that the front door to the shop had been damaged.

“It is believed the suspects have then entered the shop and removed a quantity of clothing before making off.

“Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea CID are investigating. There have been no arrests at this time."
