A couple accused of murdering a French au pair have admitted trying to get rid of her body by burning it on a bonfire in the garden of their £900,000 south-west London home.
Ouissem Medouni, 40, and his fiancée Sabrina Kouider, 34, are accused of killing 21-year-old Sophie Lionnet, their nanny who came from Troyes, in north-eastern France.
The couple appeared in the dock at the Old Bailey today to deny murder. Both defendants did plead guilty to perverting the course of justice, by burning Ms Lionnet’s body on a bonfire at their Edwardian home in Wimbledon Park Road, Southfields.
Met officers found Ms Lionnet’s remains on September 20 last year, after being called to reports of a large bonfire and “weird-smelling” smoke.
Both defendants have been remanded in custody until a trial due to begin on March 19.
