A masked man who stabbed a prison worker in the head as she arrived at work in a series of brutal street attacks is facing jail.
Evans Innocent, 45, donned a balaclava in an attempt to disguise himself as he attacked the woman outside HMP Pentonville in north London on April 21 last year.
The prison employee was in the parking area when she was ambushed by Innocent, suffering stab wounds to her head, neck, and left shoulder.
She was rushed to hospital for treatment to her wounds after the 6am attack and survived, police said.
Innocent was caught the next day, when he was found armed with several weapons including knives, trowels, and a curtain pole in the area of the prison.
One of the knives had the victim’s DNA on the blade, and police then linked Innocent to two other street attacks, on April 3 and 7, on random members of the public.
In images released by the Met, Innocent is seen brandishing a weapon on the day of his arrest while wearing colourful gloves and the balaclava.
He denied all the charges but was convicted following a trial at the Old Bailey which concluded yesterday.
"This was a series of premeditated, unprovoked attacks without any warning or motive”, said Detective Constable Russell Harvey.
“Innocent deliberately went out on the streets looking to cause harm to people in the community and his actions were nothing short of horrific.
"Thanks to a dedicated investigation by Central North CID officers, the suspect was quickly identified and linked to further offences by CCTV, Oyster card and phone data. I am overwhelmingly glad that we could bring some closure and justice to the victims who suffered through such awful ordeals.
“These random attacks left them with serious injuries and it is incredibly fortunate that they all survived.
"The result today reflects the violence of Innocent’s actions. It is undeniable that a very dangerous man has been taken off the streets.”
Innocent, of no fixed address, denied but was found guilty of attempted murder, two counts of wounding with intent and seven charges of possession of an offensive weapon.
He is due to be sentenced on September 10.
