A 20-year-old man has been stabbed to death in south London.

Emergency services were called shortly before 3pm on Tuesday to Stockwell after a man was found with stab injuries.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in Stockwell Road, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police said his next of kin has been informed.

"At this very early stage there have been no arrests," the Met said in a statement.

"A crime scene is in place and an investigation is underway. A Section 60 has been authorised for the SW9 area."

The order came into force at 3.45pm on Tuesday and will remain in place until 6am on Wednesday.

"The aim of this is to help prevent further violence," the Met said.

Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 ref CAD 4289/15 Sept.
