A teenager has been arrested after fireworks were thrown at Jewish pedestrians in an apparently racially-motivated attack.

Police were called at around 8am on Sunday to Dunsmure Road in Stamford Hill after youths were seen throwing fireworks at members of the Jewish community.

A teen was detained by volunteer neighbourhood watch group Shomrim in Hackney, who alerted police.

The 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated common assault and possession of a firework in the street.

He was taken to a north London police station and was released on police bail to a date in early March.

Police said nobody was injured during the incident.
